Child Support Enforcement Information from the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court
Last week, the Spartanburg County Clerk of Court released a welcome orientation letter that answers some common questions about child support enforcement. For instance, this letter specifies which caseworkers have been assigned to particular files, and it indicates that a hearing may be scheduled if the payor becomes three consecutive payments behind. My childrens father is over 6,300.00 behind in child support. He received money from inheritance due to his mother passing away. Why can't the money he owes me in child support be frozen before its all gone to drugs? He has been over 10,000.00 behind and his sister paid some of the money for him. One of my children is currently having to have dental work done and it would be nice to have some child support to help with this.
My ex owes over 29,000!!! Not much has been done to enforce the court order in Spartanburg County... He has been to court several times promising to pay and the court says "okay" and let's him walk every time! Haven't received one single payment in over a year now. If I lived in Greenville county, he would either be paying the support or sitting in jail!!
My husband has an "under the Table job", that he makes more from than the job he works for "peanut for" However he does not report this income, matter of facts he is doing an under the table job for his Lawyer. I get 40 dollars a week if iam lucky. He is a dead beat and does not plan to work because this will make him pay more child support, but he has found away of making money but not reporting it!
As black women we need to be smarter when it comes to who we have children with. We also need to become financially independent so that we do not have to rely on men for money-after all most of them move on with their lives---so should we!
my ex husband jimmie macom is over 9 grand behind right now and nothing has been done,only because he lives in north carolina. I have tried everything and all i get is we cant go across stat lines to get him mam we are sorry.Well yea im sorry to that my children have to go with out cause their dead beat sperm donor moved only an hour and a half away and so doesnt have to take care of them. Something relly should be done about guys like him
My ex-wife is"MIA" and has been for over two years now.She owes over 3000.00 and I don't want a penny of it.I have a new wife and she does everything for my daughter.I agree that finding these dead-beat parents should be stricly enforced!For Heavens sake, it's court orderd!!!

I am not able to make any head way with CSE nor have I seen garnished tax refunds in approx 6 years. According to the law, he should have had a suspended driver's license at this point. Seems to me there are children being terribly left behind!
If my ex wife re marries, or I get re married can i get a reduction in the amount of child support i pay?
We have custody of our grand children. Their father is in prison and their mother lives in a near by town. She is not allowed any visitation or contact of any kind.
She is ordered to pay child support. She has NEVER paid anything! We have had them for almost 5 years!
Why has nothing been done to her for not paying? We have received a summons for family court but each time we take off work and go, she is not there and the people at the court house tell us she was NEVER served!!
Why was she not served? we received our copy. It stated that she was in Contempt of Court. Why has she not been arrested for that?
We need some answers. Who and where do we call to talk to someone about this?
We don't need the money, but she owes these kids because of what she did to them!
Also, why was she ordered ONLY $15 per week for BOTH children, not each--BOTH. Thats $60 per month total!
$7.50 per child per week--thats not enough to pay for their school lunches!
I have always had problems with receiving the child support ordered to me. It seems like since the non custodial parent is in contempt of court that there should be some jail time involved, even if it's only a day. I think it is a shame that our children have to go without some things because the dead beat parent just can't seem to part with the few dollars that they are ordered to pay. That parent needs to think about what we pay to feed, cloth, and just be there every day.
I was given an order to have O. L. E. to pay me child support for our child. He has been jailed over 5 times since 2008. He has not paid a dime since Dec. 2008. I can see why people run up bills in the thousands based on what I see go on with this individual everytime he's jailed and released. He's been in jail multiple times for non-support however he is constantly being RELEASED from jail still owing child support. How can this be? What is Mark Kitchens office for? This is a shame. Laws need to be passed that capture and put these dead beats on a work program to pay their child support. The children are the one's suffering. How can the jail continusously RELEASE a person that they have info in their computer system to put a hold on due to non-support? it's not only the system it's the jail and Kitchen's office.
why is it if the moms cant financially support their children that the state awards them custody.my ex wife had me locked up 7 times for cdv and wouldnt show up for court in which the state took over and scared me into a guilty plea . no evidence . no dna tests . nonetheless the wonderful state of sc granted her custody ., if you cant support kids dont have them
My husband's child has been living with us for over two years and he was put up for child support and was sent to jail for not paying. His child is now three. The mother only asks for the child back when DSS or she has to get a check for something. We have asked for help but has only been turned away. He is a good father. The bad men give the good men a ruff ride with justice.
My fiance has 2 kids, his ex hasn't allowed visitation in 7 years. My fiance did not have the advantage of an atty. when he was divorced, so he simply signed his papers...at the threat of his ex's atty. Nice. As a law student, I took a look: she has had him paying 30% MORE than guidelines. (He was a kid when he was divorced, she was much older...weird sitch.) He just received a Show Cause because he is in arrears. Of course when he called DSS EVERY MONTH, he was told "stay consistant & send whatever you can." he did. Now he's being brought in for contempt. Found out that his ex's mother is friends with the clerk of court. Thank goodness, he's agreed to file for primary residential responsibility & primary parental responsibility (sole custody) based on "make-up time" because he can prove his efforts in trying to contact his children whom his ex hs refused to allow him to see. Plus, he's filing the motion to modify the amount based on the change in circumstances (income/guideline issue) and with sole parental, he will likely end up receiving support from the other side.
