Beam Me Up! One Divorcing Man Prepares to Lose His Starship Enterprise

Posted in Assets and Debts, Divorce, Separation

According to a recent report on MSNBC.com, Tony Alleyne, a devoted Star Trek fan (a/k/a a “trekkie”) appears set to lose the apartment in England that he slavishly remodeled to mimic the Starship Enterprise. Apparently his soon-to-be ex-wife owns the apartment and is now attempting to sell the house as merely a “a conventional dwelling” after failing for years to spark interest in selling the home as is. The home is located in the English town of Hinckley and has been the property of the wife since their separation began in 1994.

Poor Tony seems more heartbroken at the demise of his apartment rather than his marriage. One British tabloid quoted the devoted fan as saying: “To say I’m gutted is an understatement. It is my life’s work. I admit there were tears.” This was no small job either as Alleyne estimates that for him to redo the project in a new apartment would cost more than $150,000.

MSNBC first reported on Alleyne back in 2006 when he was faced with bankruptcy after spending vast sums of money on the renovations. He was hoping to start a business aimed at transforming the homes of other trekkies. Alleyne said rather than spend time at the local pub or nightclub he enjoyed relaxing in the comfort of his spaceship. He describes himself as a “24th century interior designer” and is in the market for doing similar remodels should anyone be interested.

If you or someone you know is in the midst of a divorce and at risk of losing their own Starship Enterprise, you need the help of an experienced South Carolina family law attorney to guide you through the difficult process of divorce.
