About Ben Stevens
I strive to provide aggressive, creative, and compassionate services to my clients. Practicing effectively in the Family Court takes more than simply knowing the law, it also requires the ability to understand the emotional and human nature of the issues faced by people experiencing a family crisis. Having been divorced myself, I understand first-hand how people feel when facing this life-changing process.
I have lived in South Carolina all of my life. I was born in Columbia in 1970, and I grew up in Orangeburg, S.C. I am proud to have graduated with honors from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management and a minor in Accounting. I was also active in Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity during my time at Clemson, and I was honored to serve as its chapter President during my Senior year. After graduating from Clemson, I attended the University of South Carolina School of Law, but my loyalty remains with Clemson.
I have practiced in Spartanburg, South Carolina since 1995, and I have had my own practice (both with and without partners) since 1996. As of January 1, 2010, I am a partner with Turnipseed, Brannon & Stevens. I am a member of the following organizations:
- Spartanburg County Bar
- South Carolina Bar
- American Bar Association
- South Carolina Association for Justice
- American Association for Justice
- Christian Legal Society
- Family Law Sections of the South Carolina Bar
- American Bar Association
- South Carolina Association for Justice
- American Association for Justice
I am the proud father of three beautiful children (two sons and a daughter), and I attend Eastside Baptist Church in Spartanburg. Finally, I am a charter Heisman Level member of IPTAY and an avid supporter of Clemson University athletics.
I publish two other blogs: (1) "The Mac Lawyer," which focuses on using Macs in the practice of law, and (2)"South Carolina Personal Injury Law Blog," which provides information to those injured through the actions or negligence of others. Also, I frequently speak at continuing education seminars both on family law topics and legal technology topics on the local, state, and national levels.
