Today is a pretty special day. It's #GivingTuesday - a day borne as a celebration of giving. After the consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday sees people rally around their community spirit and gratitude. After two days helping the economy, we dedicate this day to doing good for the soul and our fellow man.

This year on #GivingTuesday — TODAY November 28 — millions of people across the country, of all different political views, religions, and backgrounds, will come together and do the same thing: GIVE to their favorite causes and charities. 2017 has certainly been an interesting year - one that has tested so many limits on our humanity. So, to hopefully counteract the seemingly constant negative news cycle, we'd like to make today a day to #MultiplyTheGood and focus on all that is right with our fellow man, regardless of what the media or our politicians may have us believe.

And that's just what we're doing today.

We have collected a list of worthy Upstate organizations who are in need of #GivingTuesday donations today and hope that you will join us in making donations to them. But here's how you can help #MultiplyTheGood

For every person who comments below with the name of a charity they have given to today, we will donate an extra $10 to each of these charities. Comments must be posted before midnight on November 28, 2017, so feel free to share this blog post with your friends and family and let's #MultiplyTheGood!

THE HOPE CENTER FOR CHILDREN

The Hope Center for Children was formed when two strong organizations, the Ellen Hines Smith Girls' Home and the Children Shelter of the Upstate, combined forces to provide a broader array of services to meet the needs of children and families in our community. This year, SmileMakers will MATCH every dollar, up to $2,500 on #GivingTuesday to support the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant match. That's a fantastic way to #MultiplyTheGood!

THE CHAPMAN CULTURAL CENTER

Join the movement with us and consider giving to CCC! No matter how small a donation, your gift goes directly to helping educate Spartanburg County School kids, employ artists, and enhance a culturally vibrant downtown Spartanburg.

SPARTANBURG ART MUSEUM

Spartanburg Art Museum is a regional museum promoting contemporary visual arts by inspiring and engaging people of all ages through exhibitions and education. By supporting SAM, you support the only contemporary art museum in upstate SC and help keep general admission free for everyone! All donations are 100% tax deductible your gift also includes you in the Southeastern Reciprocal Membership Program, which offers free admission to dozens of museums. You will also be recognized on their website and their on-site Wall of Thanks.

Not sure if this counts because i have given to 2 charities today but neither is in the upstate. The first is Journey’s End Ranch and Animal Sanctuary in AZ and i also gave to a Dachsund rescue in Florida. I have personal ties to both. But I also reslize the need right here in the upstate and wish i could do so much more. I see you have Ballet Spartanburg listed and they do a wonderful work with Parkinsons patients.
Thank you for all that you are doing!
